So I am really doing it. I am writing a screenplay of Chasing AllieCat. Steph Borklund, who is a film director and teaches filmmaking in Missouri, wants to make a movie of my novel.
I know, it could fall through. Lots can go wrong, and it might not happen; I might not make a red cent. I know, I know, but I AM SO EXCITED! Just the fact that she wants to make a movie of this story is enough inspiration to launch me full-bore into this sabbatical.
Today, for the first day in it seems like forever, I sat and wrote all day. It took awhile to get used to the screenwriting software, and I’m not sure I’ve got it mastered, but it’s working, and I’m writing. I have about 8 minutes of screenplay written so far, and I am HAVING A BLAST!!!! I love this. It’s crazy fun, and I’m working. Man, if I have a dream, it’s this: to write and sell enough that I write that I can teach part-time. I love teaching, but I am seriously tired of grading student papers. I need to do something different for the rest of my working life, and I know writing is the thing I want to be doing. Here goes. I will update the progress on the blog. Regularly.
