The Bear and the Wild Rose

My daughter and son-in-law play in this amazing collaboration between the Tom Jackson Band (Canadian, First Nations/Indigenous) and the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. It’s a touching, inspiring piece–about 25 minutes long.
Tom Jackson is a First Nations musician and humanitarian. Nikki plays trombone, and you can see her in the first piece–the only female trombonist. At about ten minutes, during the dancers, you can hear some excellent brass. 🙂 My son-in-law Tom plays tuba, and you can see him and hear some great tuba at about the 15:30-minute mark.
I really love this piece and the story it tells. It makes me especially happy that they incorporated the CPO (and such good brass!).
No matter what I do, the link won’t start at the beginning. You might have to scroll back to start where you should.

Oh my……..two cups of coffee later and a morning with Tom Jackson and the Calgary Philharmonic. What a beautiful production! Mesmerizing, emotional, breath holding, goosebumps, sadness for the injustices, respect and admiration for the First Nation’s. We have much to learn. Thank you for sharing this. Will watch this again.
