The semester is winding down. Actually, I gave my last final today and returned research papers. I still have to grade two final exams and some last short papers/reviews, and then I’ll be done.

Then: Sabbatical! I won’t be teaching until January. Wow. That means WRITING and RIDING my bike as well as more time to get to see my kids.

But RIGHT NOW, I am focusing on preparing for my 100-mile ride in Brazelton, Georgia, with my son-in-law Tom to raise money for Aplastic Anemia. Tom is an Aplastic Anemia survivor, and no other AA survivor has ever ridden the 100-mile course. Those of us who raise $1000 get to ride with GEORGE HINCAPIE! Also, we get to have dinner with him the night before. Click here to see the scoop: http://www.prerace.com/registration/donation/140963

Because the organizer, Robert Wilhite’s wife Kelly has AA and is in failing health, it’s going to the the last Jackson County Brevet. We want to make it a great one in support of Kelly, of Tom, and everybody else with AA.

This picture is my cycling buddy triathlete Danielle Mitchell who is also a sports medicine doctor in Chattanooga, Tennessee (there’s a lot of double letters in that city). She was working doc at a sports event and HERE WAS GEORGIE! Since she knows George is my all-time favorite pro cyclist (sorry, Jens Voigt), she got him to pose with this poster! I’m going to print it and bring it to show him! 🙂
